I'm home now. Tyrone: wow what a voice!!!! How had I never heard that before? Did a search through the huge amount of tunes I got given a couple of months ago and what do you know, I've a couple of tunes by him, but not this one. I'm going to do some digging...what a voice, what a voice.

Thanks Ally!

I've got too much music. I don't have either the Tyrone or Alton versions, but I do have a version of it by Nicky Thomas (love of the common people), that's really really good that I'd actually never listened to.

The shame of too much music.

Turns out Can I Change My Mind started life as a b-side!!!

If I'm ever reincarnated I'd like to come back as a Tyrone. Such a great name. (or maybe it'd be easier - not to mention quicker - to just pop down to the UK Deed Poll Service, which is about half a mile down the road from my gaff!)

It'll either be Tyrone or my other favourite name, which you might recognise from an old episode of Minder, Ally: "Yoyo Pickles". How great is that?!

Can I just say that you've been on a total roll lately? It just keeps getting better.

Any chance of a few more of these version excursions?

TD has got a great voice and, like you say, he's not a belter is he? Really nice horn fills and a bounce in the rhythm section that reminds me of something like 'Clean Up Woman'.

And the Alton E cover is just as sweet. He's actually playing down the Jazz Cafe in Camden tonight - anyone know whether he can still do it live these days? Bit of a risk when all the great records are at least 30 years old...

ta dearie - you're too kind

we were really tempted by alton but just didn't get it together (as usual). i've seen to many greats suffering at the hands of jazz cafe session men to really mind i miss it
