i saw the lights

for all the poor unfortunates that couldn't get to glorious blackpool for illumination night. it's all a bit shoddy these days if i'm really honest but it was a birthday treat for years and years and there's still the fisherman's friend shiptram that always astounds and just enough magic to turn me titchy again

ray bryant - up above the rock

Lovely, our lass.

More a case of 'hallucinations' for me these days.

From Winter Gardens to Pleasure Beach, its all a little musty, tired and spent. I can still hear 'Sunny' as I pass the Manchester. I can still smell the rock being rolled. I can still taste the vinegar on the cockles. I can still touch ... the memories. Oh so many memories.

Ally, apologies if I'm stating the bleedin' obvious but it's gotta be an excuse for Vic to do a reprise of his Blackpool number ...

I've been after that Ray Bryant tune for years. So long that I'd forgotten I was after it. Thank you ever so much.

Your site has introduced me to so many amazing pieces of music so thank you for all of them.

Blackpool must have been a treat in its heyday.

I've heard Ray Bryant on other people's records but never heard any of his own music before. I like this. Makes me think of sort of stripped down downtempo Ramsey Lewis or something.

it's an old favourite round here - it really gets jumping after a minute or so and jumps me with it
