ain't it the truth right now

bank holiday weekender classics just don't any more massively anthemic than this really they don't. sing along with me children...

maze - joy and pain

to be honest the only proper holiday camp do i've been to involved getting stupidly overexcited by the in a row amazingness of the high llamas then super furry animals and then stereolab after wolfing down the whole weekends supplies on the first night and spending the rest of the time wishing sonic youth would bloody well shush. it was still good though

Ah the joys of holiday camp weekenders.
I can thoroughly recomend the Togetherness northern soul weekender at the Cala Grand in Fleetwood, although you will need a further week off to catch up on sleep and all the overtime availible to pay for that must have obscure 7" single you had to buy for 250 quid on the Sunday afternoon as sleep deprivation turn your reasoning faculties to mush.

The only holiday camp I've been to is Pontins in Prestatyn. A freebie - but I wouldn't go back for the Sultan of Brunei's bank balance. The only holiday where I've laid awake at night, dreaming of coming home (but couldn't cos of the petrol strikes) . Fleas, a bed like a bag of blue circle cement and screaming seagulls ripping open rubbish bags at 4am were some of the highlights

Good news is they filmed Holiday On The Buses there.

I'm off to Winchelsea Beach tomorrow - bang opposite Camber.

Good gear. My other half's got the twelve of this.

Londoners can catch Maze in town on Friday September 19th. (But they'll have to go to Croydon for it, Fairfield Hall. Turn up on the wrong night and you'll get Jim Davidson or Tony Hadley - there's Croydon for you.)

Have a nice break!

We always used to go to Pontin's or Butlin's on our family holidays when I were a lad. (or abroad with Pontinental if mum & dad were feeling really adventurous.) Them were the days alright. Not arf.

If you saw some bored-looking bloke giving out change in the amusement arcade bit of Pontins Brixham circa summer of 87, it were me. They didn't have Soul Weekenders there, sadly : (

i somehow managed to stay at the bournmouth one when there was a weekender on in the town so spent a bloody fortune in sodding cab fares and missed out on all the pontinsy fun. well alright the olympic smoking and watching snooker.

Ten tens for a quid love? Watch the fruit by the window, it sticks.

I had to give the amusement arcade at Brixham a wide berth after the atendant worked out that I'd been cheating on the duck shooting game by not putting any money in and kicking the machine to get it to work (a trick a friend I'd made had taught me; typically, though, I was the one who got rumbled for it).

I was only 10 or 11 and spent the rest of the holiday in mortal fear that the rozzers would be along any time to cart me off to the big house! That's pretty much where my life of crime began and ended anyway!
