you're my guitar hero

long ago and far away a great big beautiful semi acoustic wonder had pride of place in my room all adored and worshiped and mistreated and wasted on lazy fingers that were miles past distracted and despite all the dreams had hated stages and crowds and trying to find the right noises... gee how it must be to make those strings chime...

Well that's a luvverly little post.

Guitar playing ruined my life. I was all set to be a writer. That was my goal, what they said I was good at in school. Then along came music! Bloody thing. All calloused fingers and RSI and sweaty rehearsal rooms. And I hate being on stage, with the lights too bright in your eyes and other musicians giving you evil eyes every time you make a mistake. There's no tippex for a guitarist...

Don't get me started on guitar geekery - I'll go on for hours. Macca has played a Hofner bass since his Hamburg days. This bloke (Gatemouth Brown) is the most unlikely guitar hero you're likely to come across.

Oh curse those two with their well pitched and kind comments when all I could go on about was the tech not working.

Hawley plays a Hofner now and then, doesn't he?

He plays it nice.

I know less about guitars than I know about cars (which is bugger all).

Those are just beautiful objects whether or not you can play them.

I've still got a semi-acoustic in a dusty case in the bedroom. Doesn't get played as much as the acoustic. It's a moody off-brand thing called Fenix. Looks nice though, I believe the finish is called 'Tobacco Sunset'...What did yours look like Ally?

(P.S. Anyone else think Mondo is quite a handy guitarist? He put a nice acoustic thing up on his blog a while back. And that 'Stoner' track on his Myspace was good too.)
