The answer here lies in the fact that, in later years, Bill Beaumont used to appear as a stunt double for Dave, presumably whilst he was off ferriting or somesuch.
The thing that Marc was the most famous for was that rumour about him swallowing sperm and ending up in hospital. It was a sport but I don't think it's been accepted at the olympics yet. Not officially anyway.
Yeah, I've seen him get quite cross when asked about it. Probably because it's the only thing people ask about and it was such a long time ago. I've heard this urban myth applied to other celebrities as well. I had a few pints with Dave Ball and The Go-Betweens' label boss a few years ago. A very, very nice chap, Mr Ball. Knows his shit when it comes to northern soul, let me tell you.

Given the number of things he admits to, I think we can believe him when he says that's just a rumour.
