say it ain't so joe say it ain't so

the stupid greedy shortsighted bastard wankers are closing down the stow. you've got till august people then that's it. apparently new changes in betting laws have meant loads of people are gambling off track. off track for gawds sake. i know walthamstow is the back of beyond and i'm never really totally positive that greyhounds really like bunnies quite that much but hell the place is a palace a national treasure a feast for the senses and the soul. i despair.

it's really upset me.

I L.O.V.E that Diana Ross track - haven't heard it for years. Great pics, are they yours?

Ah, that's a shame about Walthamstow. One of my favourite nights out that is. The East End is disappearing around us, probably to be replaced by luxury flats nobody on a normal wage can afford.....

At the very least they should save that beautiful neon sign...

Oh dear - looks like I'm never going to get there. I hope that sign gets saved.

They should have kept the Speedway and the Stock car racing rather than just concentrating on the dogs.

It was inevitable though- aprime piece of real estate just off the M25. Give it another 30 years and Wembley Stadium will be another housing estate!

Ally, but on the plus side, just think, once this piece of history has been torn down, we'll no doubt have a new McDonalds, KFC or if you're REALLY lucky maybe a Bowl-A-Rama or 10 screen cinema (with 9 screens all showing the same film... ah choice!).

This kinda stuff rests heavy on my mind, and has (sort of) surfaced in my last 2 posts.

I guess my dad might save some money tho, he's always wasting it down the Stow...
