We had lectures on Flannery O'Connor at Uni. Our American Lit. professor, a world leader in his field/marvellous old queen who'd hung out with William S.Burroughs and Grace Slick in the 60s may he rest in peace would read aloud from her stuff, (badly) approximating the accent. Now that's a 'Higher' Education.
