friday night in a very awkward to get to manchester suburb a shop front bar with a tiny back room a lovely shop front bar with a lovely tiny back room but still a very awkward to get to lovely shop front bar with a lovely tiny back room with someone who has made some of my all time favourite records of all time of all time in it... one of the world's greatest if not THE world's greatest safari suit and sandals wearers... here we were with twenty or so other people with the (like edwyn) taller (much) than you'd think still floppy gloriously silver haired brand new to my wide adoring eyes james flipping kirk just there wandering about all tall and unsafari suited and unsandalled and then playing us (about 20 maybe 30 of us) his songs with warren starry sky who did most of the chatting and singing and encouraging and was smashing at all three... there were beautiful you supply the roses and get on boards and a whole bunch of what's a new lp and we were at the bar again after half an hour absolutely  beaming ... glorious

in stunning news... i'm going out! tonight! at night! in the dark! not just to put the bins out but actually out... to see people playing pop music... and not just any people but james "tremendous" kirk... yes that one... in a tiny backroom of a tiny boozer... so of course i'm going out! it being the northern poorhouse the last bus there is at five past seven and the last bus back with quite a bit of a walk is half past ten so it's two busses one completely the wrong way... where's my crossrail... but james kirk people james "terrific" kirk... only got to see the orange juicers after he'd gone so i'm thrilled (obviously)

there should be a song i know but my music files are totally buggered and i can't seem to get you tube things to copy on here anymore ... bloody hell... anyway i've been singing get on on board a lot so go and find that it's super

desert island discs... it's not anyone's desert island discs is it it's let's go through your life chronologically with the top hits of the day the most obvious flipping things you know backwards.... or you don't know backwards cos you've had the bloomin sense to turn that horror off the second you'd heard it twice.... i'm looking at you oh gawd help us ... everyone... i have a long long long list of the famous/influential/inspiring that would be roasting on a spit along with their "discs" five seconds after i was marooned with them.... this is the kind of fuckery my insomniac ruined noggin grasps at to blank out the true terrors it really wants to get into through all the wriggling hours so i'm forever grateful... everyone really knows the desert island discs are impossible to choose... it might even be better to have no songs than just eight... and besides all the ones you truly love every scratch and crackle and 1234 are always there to whistle and to bawl.... but... if really pressed i'd want things i've still not ever quite got to grips with... the jazzers that go deeper than i've ever dared... the swingers that the words still escape me after a million goes.and a hipswaying fringe flicking tremelo trembler to boot...
