12. a song with an iconic sleeve... company sleeves always and that philips one wraps up so many of my favourite things this one the b-side of i will come to you a goddam strange choice of single amongst a whole bunch of strange choices of dusty singles sad bad choices for poor old dusty when you look at a list (go on have a look at a list)...

10. a song released by a solo artist better known for being part of a group... lani hall lani hall lani hall...as sergio veered off into brasil 77 lani went and made two follow ups to stillness which are oh unimaginably beautiful...carole king's own go is bloomin lovely but lani hall is lani hall...

sleeve notes

3. a song with a colour in the title... as much the greatest thing i've only got as a thing on the machine that i'd adore and hold ever so tender in real life as anything i can think of well this and guess i'm dumb (oh for a record of guess i'm dumb) the horace silver version is a marvel the horace silver version with bill henderson singing is nearly as marvelous but i love the horace version so bill sort of gets in the way for me... the  rose hardaway came from the ever giving office naps and there's wonderful stuff from rose's grandson and one of her neighbours in the comments bit so troll over there dears do you'll find the bill henderson there too

4. a b-side you played as much as, if not more than, the a-side... i wish i'd never loved you armagideon time liza radley get up and move stand down margaret the corrupt ones on my mind if the papes come heck this was nearly city hobgoblins which'd bounced me round the kitchen in a handful of singles play it as it lays afternoon just a while ago... the deee lite has been a today tomorrow and always presence in the going out record box and was going to be the under 2.30 choice till i read down the list the whole way

bonus songs...

blossom dearie - long daddy green

the byrds - she don't care about time

x

ps

i know everyone knows the byrds but there are never too many times to play a b-side of of all b-sides

sleeve notes

i though perhaps more rattling on about the cooking mixes 15 songs whatsit might be nice...

1. a song by an artist or group who would be catagorised under 'a'... astounding i know but i've never been much a filer the records piles vaguely making sense through constant rummaging and things played most being nearer the front so off the top of my head this went the action bob andy ruby andrews ummmmmm art ensemble of chicago (who it very nearly was what with theme de yo yo being so marvelously bananas and all) and ohhhhh aswad that first dub record heck one of the first reggae records that and police and thieves and misty in roots so aswad...

2. a song with a running time under 2min 30sec... could've been most anything and very nearly was but lovely noel was right near the front of the kitchen record player pile and they don't come much shorter neither nor shouting loud so quietly...

bonus songs...

ruby andrews - wonderful night

carla thomas - where do i go

phifer friday

of all the hordes of fallen these dark days it's been little phife's that went and got me most the only real before his timer and all  hitting the still sad for mca buttons hard too... as all those 89ers went housey acidy whatever here berets got jauntier gabbicis buttoned high and the native tongues were the only gang in town... what could be superer than questing with the questers break spotting of a sunday afternoon booze up hunched up giddy over the soul jazzer's lobby boxes astounded as all anything recognising something off of some mole chancer... oh people's instinctive travels and the paths of rhythm how i wore you out...

there's volume and volume and volume of records sampled collections all worth your pennies this on them somewhere one of those that i only bought cos prison shows are always a thing thrilled as all everything when the low end theory met the needle and after the horns you can check out the phifer...

jimmy mcgriff - green dolphin street

time travel and positive futurism

rummaging about in a long unrummaged box of heaven only knows and there was a pile of old flyers for long ago dancing...

super mark over at cooking up a quiet storm has issued new and exacting demands...

1. A song by an artist or band who's name would be categorised under 'A'
2. A song with a running time under 2mins 30sec
3. A song with a colour in the title
4. A b-side you played as much as, if not more than, the a-side
5. A cover version
6. A duet or a song by a duo
7. An instrumental
8. A song that's 'easy on a sunday morning'
9. An original song from a film soundtrack
10. A song released by a solo artist better known for being part of a group
11. A song that you associate with your parents
12. A song with an iconic sleeve
13. A song not in the english language
14. A song from the 80s that would NEVER feature on 'Now That's What I Call The 80s'
15. A song to go on a compilation entitled 'Seminal Songs For Modern Teenagers'

a new weekly feature as it turns out the first one landing monday the 1st of feb... i had a ball sorting my fifteen out and if you fancy a go do let the cooking mixers know...

this was nearly a song by an artist or band who's name would be categorised under 'a' but then it wasn't so we'll have it here instead... i've an horrible feeling the ituners will be increasingly lost in alphabetical categorisation but then again they're probably a lot cleverer than they look...

ernie andrews - what do i see in the girl
