friday night in a very awkward to get to manchester suburb a shop front bar with a tiny back room a lovely shop front bar with a lovely tiny back room but still a very awkward to get to lovely shop front bar with a lovely tiny back room with someone who has made some of my all time favourite records of all time of all time in it... one of the world's greatest if not THE world's greatest safari suit and sandals wearers... here we were with twenty or so other people with the (like edwyn) taller (much) than you'd think still floppy gloriously silver haired brand new to my wide adoring eyes james flipping kirk just there wandering about all tall and unsafari suited and unsandalled and then playing us (about 20 maybe 30 of us) his songs with warren starry sky who did most of the chatting and singing and encouraging and was smashing at all three... there were beautiful you supply the roses and get on boards and a whole bunch of what's a new lp and we were at the bar again after half an hour absolutely  beaming ... glorious
