How about Mick Jones' You Light Up My Life - "love the way you wiggle when you walk, love the way you giggle when you talk, you li-li-li-light up my life you do ..."? Can't remember which of the Big Audio variations ...

Hey! I've got all three of those. (Well, Bobby Hutcherson rather than Dee Dee Bridgwater, but the same tunes.)

I was surprised to see Karine Polwart pop up in your last FM list (didn't seem your thing) so I guess you know Daisy? That's lovely, although the message is a bit ambiguous: your innocence is beautiful - but the world isn't. So you'll have to start losing it if you're going to be safe.

Who shouldn't be allowed to write about childhood? Weller's had a couple of mawkish efforts...

Off the top of my fat head ...

I like 'Sarah' by Thin Lizzy (well Phil Lynott really). Simple but effective.

Paul Simon's 'Father & Daughter' is rather good.

'Daddy's Home' by Cliff Richard isn't.

'Fool To Cry' by The Stones may count?

I rather love Wilco's My Darling actually. Then there is Forever Young of course.

cor aren't you a clever little lot. oh yes you are.

i only know dick's ones and forever young and i'm kicking myself for not remembering sarah for i too love a bit of lizzy

anon dearie - sorry about that but i'm sure a sweet slice of british jazz more than made up for the disappointment.

My fave is Jonathon Richman's "My Little Girl's Got a Full Time Daddy Now". My mate Wayne put me on to it, for which I am eternally in his debt.

The Intruders version of Gil Scott Heron's "Save the Children" always gets me too!
