I remember many years ago I got a tape in the post from my brother. Herbie on one side, Tony on the other. Quite a formidable double act I think you'll agree.

I'd like to hear Tony with a vocoder.

Monster track this one, oh yes.

XTC called the disco hi hat sound Pea Soup - say it over and over and sounds like disco cymbals

Smashing titfer. I like to imagine D's hiding a little pile of cheese and pickle sandwiches hidden under that.

Like that tune. Does it remind anyone else of girls in footless tights and strappy wedges, and boys in Pinto pegs? And the pub getting one of those new Space Invaders in, and starting to sell novelty cocktails like Tequila Sunrises and Harvey Wallbangers? And the DJ might still have had the sign up saying that requests for punk records would be refused, but then soul music was getting surprisingly electronic with Anita Ward going pyeooww pyeoowww, and Edwin Starr going dung dung dicker dicker, and Herbie getting his vocoder out? So it all felt like the future was coming down to land like a big Blake's Seven spacecraft but it was really just the 80s turning up a little bit early? Just me then.

Anonymous - you should have sent him one back with Ashford and Simpson on one side and Galton and Simpson on the other...
