get down
in case your carnival weekend needs a little encouragement.
me i haven't ventured west of an august bank holiday since the troll from a few beers round gaz's rockin' blues over to good times's blow up turned into the all too plausible plot for mission impossible 4 and a new chapter in dub still rattled windows all over the city.
play nice now children

name that tune
it's time to get your thinking hats on again brothers and sisters and help out a poor sickly unfortunate who's found a corker of a country soul tune hiding under the endless bits of daftness that clog up this dumb machine. i can only suppose that it's come from one of our fine comrades listed just over there but a rummage about while no one was looking still hasn't helped none so now it's your go. bust some heads if needs must flash the cash and don't worry about the overtime.
and be careful out there.
mystery tune ?? solved! hurrah! thankyou fiddy and richard for your clever brains

the lost fountains of W1
it's on days like these that centrepoint's glorious sparkling bits of brasilia are most missed days when you need a handy spot to dangle your roasting toes and dodge the busses and the ever queuing astoria teens and dream of long ago days when grade 2 listing actually meant something (not that i know what it means in the slightest obviously) that wasn't let's dig it up and store it and possibly put it somewhere else entirely even though it looked so grand just where it flipping well was thankyou very much.
anyway now all you get round there is a face full of dust and rocks in your shoes. goddamn you crossrail goddamn you all to hell.
listen and remember and shake a tail feather
quartette tres bien - boss tres bien

july joys
he says my daughter, and all the love he has is wrapped up in the tone of his voice when he says those two words, he says my daughter you must always look with both your eyes and listen with both your ears. he says this is a very big world and there are many many things you could miss if you are not careful. he says there are remarkable things all the time, right in front of us, but our eyes have like the clouds over the sun and our lives are paler and poorer if we do not see them for what they are.
he says, if nobody speaks of remarkable things, how can they be called remarkable? he looks at her and he knows she doesn't understand, he doesn't think she'll even remember it to understand when she is older. but he tells her these things all the same, it is good to say them aloud, they are things people do not think and he wants to place them into the air.
jon mcgregor - if nobody speaks of remarkable things
popping peas from their pods
my poor little records heroically surviving their soaking
the alpacas of vauxhall city farm
patricia highsmith - the talented mr ripley being comically unputdownable and gloriously despicable and keeping me on a sofa quietly all day so the mrs could actually get some work done
tiny little almost black ducklings swimming about underwater then just popping up again by the bridge in st james's park and a mum duck chasing a whopping great fish when it bumped one of her ducklings and just ducklings in general really. st james's and regents parks have been packed with them.
haggle vinyl down essex road still being as fabulously maddeningly barmy and imposible and still open
gladys knight and the pips - the makings of you
joyce - banana
pinching ideas wholesale from caught by the river
you lot
